BMP uses an uncompressed bitmap format. When saving high-quality original images, converting JPG to BMP can avoid the image quality loss caused by editing, saving, and compressing in the JPG format. Secondly, in professional design or medical imaging where further analysis and editing are needed, the uncompressed nature preserves complete image data and provides higher color depth and detail restoration.
1. Use Cases
When you have a large number of JPG images and need to avoid quality loss from re-saving, or for uses such as X-rays and CT scans, directly batch converting them to BMP format can preserve the complete details of the images.
