They are clearly files I need to use, but after opening them, I find I can't print, can't copy, and can't even type a single word! The whole point of PDF is convenience and strong compatibility, but these restrictions simply create trouble in our daily work. Differences Between PDF Documents With and Without Read-Only Passwords
PDF Files with Read-Only Passwords Cannot Be Modified Freely
When a PDF document has a read-only password, we can open, read, and browse the file content, but cannot modify, copy, print, or extract text from it. This setting is used in special occasions to protect the integrity and copyright of the document. The read-only password restricts operations for those who don't know the password, allowing only viewing, ensuring that the document content is not accidentally deleted or maliciously modified, and protecting the professionalism of the PDF document. However, this approach can bring many inconveniences to team collaboration or the reuse of document content, especially when adjustments or citations of the content are common.
PDF Files Without Read-Only Passwords Can Be Modified Freely
PDF documents without read-only passwords typically allow users to freely edit, copy, and print, and are widely used when non-sensitive information documents need to be shared. Documents without read-only mode are more flexible in terms of modification and secondary utilization compared to those with it, making it convenient for users to modify and cite content in practical situations, thereby improving work efficiency. However, such open documents also carry potential risks, such as being arbitrarily modified or improperly used. Especially in the case of PDF documents involving copyright or sensitive information, the lack of restrictive measures can lead to a loss of content protection, significantly reducing security.
