The painstakingly crafted PPT file is sent to others, and the biggest fear is it being inexplicably and haphazardly altered! A moment's carelessness can render the carefully prepared layout unrecognizable, or lead to the accidental deletion of important parts. PowerPoint files provide us with flexible presentation capabilities, but when distributing and sharing slides, we usually only want the recipient to view the file content and not to make arbitrary modifications.
So how can we ensure the integrity of our presentations while preventing accidental content modification? This article introduces a quick method to protect your PPT by setting a read-only password, allowing users without the password to only view the content but not modify it. This greatly enhances the security of your presentations, so you no longer have to worry about files being tampered with! Let's try it out together!

The Difference Between Editable Viewing and View-Only Mode in PowerPoint
PPT Presentations with Editable Viewing Capability
When a slide file can be viewed and freely modified, we have full control over the file content, including deleting files, adjusting or replacing images, modifying animation effects, and rearranging slide order. In scenarios like team collaboration or pre-speech preparation, this type of PPT allows us to make flexible adjustments. For example, in a project, team members can edit and modify the presentation to improve its quality and content, enhancing the file's overall flexibility.
PPT Presentations in View-Only Mode
When a PowerPoint file is set to view-only mode, users can browse the slide content but cannot make any modifications. This is very practical in scenarios like sending proposal documents to clients or distributing teaching materials. By setting read-only permissions, the file creator can prevent accidental or malicious content modification, ensuring accuracy and security. However, in other scenarios, this mode can also cause inconvenience, as recipients cannot personalize the document content based on actual needs or extract materials from the slides.
