When organizing files on the computer, there are often batches of files whose names are mixed with names left by multiple collaborators, or text codes automatically added by the system. These letters make the file names extremely long, inconvenient to identify, and the sorting is also very chaotic, making it difficult to find the required files during searches. Especially when these files need to be shared with others or archived for a long time, the messy English names or garbled codes make the entire folder hard to recognize. However, in such situations, manually modifying and renaming files one by one, deleting the letters individually—when there are hundreds or thousands of files—it becomes almost impossible to change and delete them file by file.
So how can we batch delete all English letters from these file names at once? This article introduces a very powerful little tool that allows each file name to retain only the original numbers, symbols, or other characters, quickly removing all uppercase and lowercase letters from A to Z, making our file names concise and clear, and the sorting more orderly.
Why delete all English letters from file names?
Avoid system compatibility issues
When files are shared internationally, not everyone can fully understand file names with English abbreviations or mixed languages. If the meaning of English words is unclear or used inconsistently, it can cause confusion. Removing English words from file names and using a single language can reduce misunderstandings and make collaboration smoother.
Standardize file names
In certain jobs or projects, it may be stipulated that file names can only use one language. If file names are mixed with English or other languages, they look very messy and lack consistency. Deleting all English helps us maintain clean and unified file naming.
Facilitate quick searching
The file system sorts file names based on characters, and mixing English with other characters and numbers can affect the sorting results, making subsequent file searches very difficult. By removing English words and using a single script, we can greatly simplify our searching and organizing work.
