In the work scenario of managing documents and file archiving, learning to efficiently identify and extract key identification information from PDF files is a very important skill. Many logistics documents, invoice vouchers, or corporate documents contain specific barcodes, and the codes within the barcodes often contain important data such as order numbers, product serial numbers, or identification content. When we have many PDF files with barcodes that need to be renamed based on the barcode numbers, traditionally, we can only manually check the numbers and rename them. However, with a large number of files, it not only wastes time and reduces efficiency, but the numbers are also very easy to misread, leading to input errors.
So is there a way to batch rename each PDF's name directly to the barcode number inside the file? This article introduces a very powerful technique that can batch recognize barcodes in PDFs, automatically scan and accurately read the encoded information, and then rename the file using this information. This greatly enhances our efficiency in file retrieval and is extremely convenient for financial reconciliation, document management, file tracking, and a series of other scenarios.
When Do You Need to Rename Files Using the Barcode Number from a PDF?
Clear File Names
When dealing with a bunch of PDFs containing barcodes, if the file names are messy or meaningless, and the barcode inside the file serves as an identifier for different PDFs, extracting the barcode number to use as the file name allows each file to have a recognizable name. This makes subsequent file organization clearer, and searching and archiving become very convenient, preventing situations where PDFs with barcodes cannot be found.
Strict File-to-Number Correspondence
Companies and institutions often scan PDFs from paper archives, and the barcode numbers carry important information. If renaming and entering the numbers manually, long strings of digits are very prone to errors or omissions, leading to a mismatch between files and numbers. Here, directly identifying the barcode number in the PDF for automatic renaming can ensure standardized file names and reduce manual errors.
Processing Large Volumes of Scanned Documents
When you have a pile of scanned PDFs to archive quickly, such as courier waybills or logistics orders, opening each file, viewing the barcode, and manually naming it is not only time-consuming and tedious but also makes efficiency suffer. We can use automatic renaming based on the barcode number, letting the system automatically identify the barcode inside the PDF and save it as the file name. This not only saves manual effort but also significantly improves efficiency.
