When dealing with courier waybills, logistics forms, international shipping documents, invoices, or inventory records, standardized barcodes are embedded within Word documents. These barcodes often carry key identification codes. For easier retrieval and search, how should we directly rename a Word file containing a barcode to the barcode number found inside the document? Although these codes serve their purpose within the document, manually extracting those numbers to rename Word files is an extremely tedious and error-prone process. If there are dozens or even hundreds of such files, opening each one to view and then modify the file name can lead to repetitive fatigue, which in turn lowers subsequent work efficiency.
Wouldn't it be very intuitive to view files if you could automatically recognize barcodes in a large number of Doc and Docx documents and directly rename the original file names with the corresponding numbers? Here is a method that can accurately batch extract barcode content as file names, thereby significantly improving our work efficiency when operating Word documents. You can view the barcode number content within the file without opening it.
When should you rename the original file name based on the barcode in a Word document?
When barcodes are needed as identifiers
When dealing with a large number of Word documents containing barcodes, if the file names are irregular, subsequent searching becomes very troublesome. To facilitate easier file management, we can recognize the barcodes in the Word documents and use the barcode numbers to rename the original file names. In this way, each Word file name will have a unique number, eliminating the need to open files for confirmation when searching, and efficiency will be greatly improved.
Generating accurate file names with numbers
In finance, warehouse, and archive management, barcodes in Word files usually represent official and error-free numbers. If file names are entered manually, it is not only slow but also highly prone to input errors and omissions, leading to mismatches between files and numbers. Here, we can directly rename files automatically based on the barcodes in the Word documents, ensuring that the file names are completely consistent with the numbers in the content and avoiding potential human errors.
Matching numbers for scanned documents
Enterprises and institutions often scan paper documents into Word files, each containing a barcode representing the file's unique identity. Manually opening dozens or hundreds of files to find numbers and then renaming them is too time-consuming. Automatically recognizing barcodes in Word files and renaming them can quickly assign the correct file name to each Word document. For those who need rapid archiving, this is the most labor-saving and error-free method.
